Dupo School District 196

    Dupo School District 196 is located approximately 10 miles southeast of St. Louis, MO. along Interstate highway I255.  The village is home to a large Union Pacific classification yard and located minutes from anywhere in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

    The present school district was established in 1956, but the High School itself dates back to 1916, when is was classified as a 2-year school. It because a full-fledged 4-year school in 1920.

    Dupo has a large campus,with four major connected buildings that create the Junior-Senior High School. The High School section is broken into three major segments which resulted from three separate constructions. The oldest section, built in 1925, now houses the administrative offices, the academic classes, special programs, guidance, the small gym, the art room and the library. The vocational building, which was constructed in 1933 was not yet connected to the main building,  This segment now houses the vocation classes, band room, ROTC and two special education classrooms.

    The newest segment of the High School complex was added in 1942 and connects the two older buildings.  The wing houses the new gym, Superintendent offices, Athletics offices, Driver Education classroom and Physical Education classes.

    The Junior High School was added in 1960 and updated and expanded in 2003.  A new cafeteria was added at that time which add another connections between the High School and the Junior High school.

    Bluffview Elementary school was completed in 2000, and combined the three older elementary building into one unit for grades PreK to 6.
