GUEST

Mr. Griffin welcomed a guest speaker into his business courses to speak with students in grades 9–12 about real-world topics that directly impact their futures. The presentation covered important areas such as the skills gap, budgeting categories, saving and spending habits, understanding taxes, and making informed financial decisions. Students also learned about career pathways in trades and college, discussed wages and the idea of jobs being “just-over-broke,” and explored strategies for long-term success. In addition, the speaker shared valuable tips on how to find and apply for scholarships to support post-secondary education.

What made the session even more impactful was the active participation from students. They demonstrated their knowledge, applied critical thinking skills, and even worked through examples on the board and used calculators/math to show their understanding of the concepts being discussed. The hands-on approach created an engaging learning environment where students could connect classroom lessons with practical life skills. Mr. Griffin and his students are grateful for the opportunity to learn from the guest speaker, whose guidance, tools, and real-world insight will help them make thoughtful choices about money, education, and careers in the years ahead.
