Students from Mr. Griffin's School Orientation and Computer Concepts classes at Dupo High School recently had the opportunity to attend Cybersecurity Career Day at Webster University in St. Louis. This exciting field trip provided students with real-world exposure to the growing field of cybersecurity and introduced them to future career possibilities in technology.
Throughout the day, students participated in interactive activities designed to teach them how cybersecurity professionals protect computer systems and personal information. One of the highlights of the event was a virtual “Capture the Flag” competition, where students worked to solve cybersecurity challenges similar to those faced by professionals in the field. This hands-on experience allowed students to think critically, problem-solve, and apply technology skills in a fun and engaging way.
In addition to the activities, students had the chance to meet cybersecurity experts and learn about different career paths in technology. Professionals shared their experiences, explained the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital world, and encouraged students to consider careers in this high-demand field. Students also learned about college programs, training opportunities, and the skills needed to succeed in cybersecurity and other technology-related careers.
The trip provided students with valuable insight into how cybersecurity impacts their daily lives and future opportunities. Experiences like this help students connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world careers and inspire them to explore their interests in technology.
Dupo High School is proud to offer students opportunities to explore career pathways and gain exposure to college and professional environments. The Cybersecurity Career Day was a meaningful experience that helped students build knowledge, confidence, and excitement about their future.
