DUPO DISTRICT 196 SCHOOLS TO REOPEN AUGUST 12, 2025

 

 

Dupo Community School District 196 schools will open for the 2025-26 school year on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.  Tuesday and Wednesday are teacher institute days – only staff report

 

Parents are reminded that District policy requires every child provide a complete physical examination, up-to-date vaccination records, dental exam, and vision exam by October 15, 2025. Please contact your school nurse for more details or visit our website at www.dupo196.org.

 

The first day that K-12 students are scheduled to attend will be Thursday, August 14, 2025.  The doors will open at Bluffview for Grades K-6 at 7:15am with class from 8:00am to 2:30pm.  Doors at the Jr-Sr High will open at 7:30am with class from 8:00am to 2:55pm.      

 

The PreK Early Childhood program begins on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.  Classes will meet from 8:00am-10:30am and from 11:45am-2:30pm.  The Early Childhood Director will send out more information to all registered students.   

 

Open House / Meet The Teacher will be held on Tuesday, August 12 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Bluffview Elementary and 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Jr/Sr High School. Students may bring their school supplies with them that evening.  There will be Bluffview grade level meetings for teachers, parents, and students at these times and locations: Preschool at 5:15 in the gym, 1st grade at 5:45 in the gym, and 6th grade at 6:15 in the gym.  Grades K, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th will be held in their classrooms during open house hours.

 

The Board of Education of District 196 announced non-refundable fees for the 2025-26 school year.  Credit and debit cards will be accepted online through the student information system, TeacherEase.  For access to this program, please contact your school office.  Each student enrolling in school will be charged a registration fee:  Grades K-3 = $70, Grades 4-6 = $85, Grades 7-8 = $95, and Grades 9-12 = $100.  Families who have more than four children attending schools in the district will be charged registration fees for only the oldest four children.  All students in grades 1-12 will be assessed a $15 chromebook insurance fee.  Senior High students who are registered for Driver Education (behind the wheel) will be assessed a $125 fee.  A $40 fine per missed drive will apply to those in Dr Ed who schedule to drive and fail to appear.  Seniors will be assessed a graduation fee of $50.

 

The following sports fees apply:  Elementary $15, Junior High $25, and Senior High $35.  Sports fees will be capped at $100 maximum per family per year.  Sports physicals are required for any student participating in the district extra-curricular athletic program and must be submitted to the school before participating in any sport or practice session.      

 

 

Registration and Collection of Fees

 

Online registration is available through TeacherEase. New students or any student who has moved in within the past year must prove residency by registering in person at each office on July 30 from 7:30am-3:30pm or July 31 from 11am-7pm.  Families that are unable to attend these registration dates can also come into register during regular office hours the week of August 4-8. Chromebook distribution for Jr/Sr High students in grades 7-12 will be during Open House on August 12 from 6pm-8pm. Jr/Sr High students that do not pick up their Chromebooks on this date and Bluffview K-6 students will receive their Chromebook on the first day of school, August 14. 

 

 

 

One item of proof from each of these categories must be provided for new students or students who must prove residency:

 

Category #1:

  • Mortgage papers or real estate tax bill

  • Printed and signed lease agreement & cancelled check

  • Paid electric, water, or gas bill

 

Category #2:

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID card

  • Voter registration card

  • Vehicle registration

  • Home owner’s or renter’s insurance

  • Current public aid card

 

To establish legal custody, you must provide one (1) of the following: 

 

1)    Official Birth Certificate with raised seal

2)    Court documents proving guardianship/custody

3)    Application for guardianship

 

Students transferring from other State of Illinois school districts must first obtain a “Student Transfer” form from their previous school in order to begin registration.

 

Both cafeterias will begin distributing meals on Thursday, August 14.  The District will participate in the federal program again this year which provides all students with free meals. 

 

Bluffview and Jr High school supply lists can be obtained from the school office, from our website at www.dupo196.org, or in your digital locker. Senior High students should bring basic materials the first day and a specific list will be given by each classroom teacher.
