summative designation

Dupo, IL – Dupo Community Unit School District 196 is celebrating a significant accomplishment as all three of its schoolsβ€”Bluffview Elementary School, Dupo Junior High School, and Dupo Senior High Schoolβ€”have earned the state's "Commendable" designation on the 2024-2025 Illinois Report Card.

This impressive feat reflects the district's dedication to providing high-quality education and support for every student.

"We celebrate the remarkable dedication shown by our students, staff, families and community. This achievement truly highlights our shared commitment to achieving academic excellence and constantly growing stronger," said Dr. Victoria White, District Superintendent.

The "Commendable" designation means each school has no underperforming student groups and their overall performance is not in the top 10% of schools statewide. For the high school, this designation also requires a graduation rate greater than 67%.

Key Highlights from the Report Card:

  • Elementary and Junior High Growth: Students in grades 3-8 at both Bluffview Elementary and Dupo Junior High showed exceptional growth in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, surpassing pre-COVID performance levels on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR).

  • Dupo Junior High Progress: Dupo Junior High School successfully moved out of its prior "Targeted" status, demonstrating the effectiveness of its targeted interventions. The school surpassed the state's cut score for the students with disabilities subgroup by a remarkable 28.42 points.

  • Dupo High School Stability: Dupo High School continues its consistent performance by once again earning a "Commendable" designation, underpinned by a strong Freshmen on Track rate.

Dupo CUSD 196 remains focused on its strategic priorities, including strengthening high school literacy, expanding the math intervention framework, and building its attendance culture and supports, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.
